Chair's Welcome Message

Dear Lib Dem Friends!

Tumultuous times continue for our motherland. And it is such a bunch of mixed news. On the one hand, Rejoice! The Lib Dems have done remarkably well:

Our membership has now risen to over 105,000 members, the biggest ever and most probably by now a larger than the declining, ageing and disillusioned survivors of a once powerful Conservative party.

Yet Brexit continues its dismal path unabated. The remnants of the Tory Party will vote their choice of leader from a shortlist of two chosen by its MPs. The choice will certainly be a Brexiteer. Once elected, the rest of us will need to force this weak minority government into a General Election.

Our Great Liberal Democrat Party is also having a leadership context with two fine and vigorous candidates - Jo Swinson and Ed Davey. You can find out more about them at: www.libdems.org.uk/leadership-candidates

Voting will begin on the 1st July May the best person win!

We are also pleased to hear that Chuka Umunna has joined the Lib Dems as MP for Streatham.

Thank you for all your support. Wishing many of you good holidays.
